About Galaxy Bookshop

Galaxy carries an extensive range of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, genre-related reference works and art, pop culture and pop science. We also have a huge range of books, videos, magazines and other merchandise focusing on genre-related film and TV, including Star Wars, Star Trek, X Files, Dr Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stargate SG1, to name just a few - over 11,000 titles in all! We airfreight weekly from overseas and source books from small publishers worldwide, so we have books that you will never have seen before!

Our Location

Located at 143 York Street, in the Sydney CBD, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the Town Hall and Town Hall railway station, through which every suburban train passes, Galaxy is close to bus stops servicing a number of North Shore, Northern Beaches, Inner West and North-west destinations and just a short walk to Eastern and Southern services.

There is plenty of nearby off-street parking for those travelling by car. With any purchase of $50 or more, we offer a $5 parking voucher on presentation of your Queen Victoria Building parking ticket.

Our People

Our staff are all keen readers and are committed to providing customers with the best possible advice and service. We love to help customers find just the thing they are looking for, and we are accustomed to answering those “I read a book with a purple cover” questions! If we don’t have the title that you are after (and it’s still in print), we’ll order it for you and airfreight it at no extra cost.

We are open every day of the year except Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday. Our hours are:

Sat	8.30am	- 6:00pm
Sun & Public Hols	10:00am	- 5:00pm
