GALAXY BOOKSELLER PICK ----- This is without doubt one of those rare books that genuinely thrills and excites the reader. It's so utterly enticing that I would gladly sit and read while the world burned down around me... which is exactly what’s happened in this post-apocalyptic novel, where Angels have invaded and turned the world to ash. Their rampage has reduced the human race to a violently desperate, rambling hoard where no one is safe and everything is consumed by chaos. Even more alarming is that it only took the Angels six short weeks to accomplish this destruction. Angels? I hear you ask somewhat incredulously. Aren't they supposed to be the good guys? Well apparently not, and seeing as (spoiler alert) we gunned down their messenger Gabrielle, the 'why' will not be forthcoming any time soon… for either side.

Penryn would have to be my most favourite character since Lani Taylor's Karou. Sharp as a tack and loyal to a fault, I wish she was my new best friend (okay, I admit there’s a bit of a girl crush going on here). You really can’t help rooting for her as you feverishly devour each chapter, hoping she'll make it out of one desperate situation after the next. Her Angel (or hostage, rather) Raffe is tall, dark and mysterious with a dry but wicked sense of humour, and the banter between the two is quite entertaining. But don't be fooled – this isn't one of your usual YA romps. The romance in this book is basically nonexistent as our two main characters are far too preoccupied with things like surviving, reattaching wings (don't ask) and finding lost little sisters without getting killed or worse, eaten (yep, it happens).

The fast pace and shockingly gory action scenes keep you turning pages till there's none left, so it's no wonder there's already a major movie deal in the works. Mind you, I'm not too sure I want to see some of those sights made 'real'. All I can say is that this is gritty, honest and unapologetically in your face – and I LOVED it! ~ Amber

The official print edition of the internet phenomenon. It's been six weeks since the angels of the apocalypse destroyed the world as we know it. Only pockets of humanity remain. Savage street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When angels fly away with a helpless girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back...

Susan Ee has eaten mezze in the old city of Jerusalem, surfed the warm waters of Costa Rica, and played her short film at a major festival. She has a life-long love of science fiction, fantasy and horror, especially if there's a touch of romance. She used to be a lawyer but loves being a writer because it allows her souped-up imagination to bust out and go feral.

An explosive, pulse-pounding journey ... A frickin' fantastic read. -- Star Completely enthralling ... It deserves to be a hit. -- Sunday Mirror The new Young Adult fantasy phenomenon. -- Grazia A fantastic combination of action, horror and romance... a thrill to read. -- The Book Bag I hung onto every word,... If you love witty banter, a dangerous apocalypse, and a cling-on-to-your-seat plot, then why haven't you read Angelfall yet? -- The Pretty Books More explicit, vivid, gritty and evocative than any book I've read for a long time... Both horrifying and spellbinding; I've not come across any authors with Susan Ee's unique storytelling method before... It's a book that defies the labels and boundaries of its genre, and a wonderfully spine-chilling read -- Keep Calm and Read a Book It's rare to read a book that is intoxicating that it is all you can think of... Angelfall is one of those books. It's so full of danger, blood, anger, despair and lust... Susan Ee really has created something of a masterpiece. It truly is a flawless debut worth every bit of hype and then some! -- Empire of Books
