Edel Marit Gaino was born in 1972 and grew up in the small Saami village of La hpoluoppal in Northern Norway. In her writing, she likes to showcase the traditional Saami story telling tradition, which is also the way she likes telling stories to children. Saami culture and the Saami language are the subjects closest to her heart.
