Series: Night Prince
After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude... until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire... Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him - a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

Reviews for Once Burned (#1 Night Prince)

We all know the story of Dracula as told by Bram Stoker, but Jeaniene Frost stays true to the historical figure, the honourable but uncompromising feudal prince with a well-earned reputation for cruelty to his enemies, which he exploits to protect his people. Her Vlad is also generous and sensual and convincingly exhibits both modern and old world traits. Like Nalini Singh's Dmitri, Vlad teaches people to be strong and doesn't suffer fools gladly.

Leila survived an accident that left her able to trace people through objects but unable to touch anyone without electrocuting them. She is kidnapped and forced to find Vlad, but sides with him against her kidnappers. Unlike others, she stands up to Vlad, but earns his respect with her unwavering loyalty. She starts to come into her own, but since Vlad is so intense, I'm hoping to see her further developed in their next book.

Once Burned has all the humour, heat and tight pacing of Frost's other books and features an entertaining cameo appearance by Cat and Bones. Frost’s fans won’t be disappointed by this offering and if you haven’t read her before, you’re definitely missing out. ~ Allison
