Analytical Chemistry provides a clear and thorough introduction to the principles and practices underpinning modern analytical chemistry. Providing a complete course from basic first principles to in-depth coverage of the latest emerging techniques, this is an essential text for readers from all disciplines where a familiarity with analytical techniques is required.

The book is arranged in three sections allowing readers from all levels to access the text as appropriate. The opening section covers fundamental or introductory material. Here little background knowledge is assumed in order to make the text suitable for students from a wide range of disciplines. This is followed by an in-depth account of the most commonly encountered instrumental techniques. The final section of the book provides more advanced coverage of significant emerging techniques in the field.KEY FEATURESConcise clear treatment of Analytical Chemistry that assumes little background knowledgeLevel and writing style will suit readers from all disciplines including Chemistry, Forensic Science and BiosciencesEmerging areas including bio-analytical and computational techniques are covered in depthMany worked examples and self-assessment questions are included, especially where numerical calculations are requiredBoxed features give further explanation of topics of particular importance or relevance to other fieldsThree distinct sections make the book easy to use for reference either at an introductory level or by more advanced studentsSupplements and Resources:

Reviews for Analytical Chemistry

`The material is presented in such a way that the non-specialist will readily learn the principles of an unfamiliar technique...I like the sections on bioanalytical methods and on environmental analyses, which do much to extend the scope of this book beyond traditional chemistry classes. I recommend Analytical Chemistry to those teaching and studying the subject at university.' Education in Chemistry 2004.`There is a simple design with well laid out text and uncomplicated diagrams. I particularly like the diagrams as they are very clear and would be easy for students to reproduce. The author has eradicated mathematics wherever possible, which will be popular with undergraduates.' Chemistry World
